Mission Statement
The mission of the Forest-Jackson Public Library is to provide access to materials and services that will meet the educational, informational, and personal pleasure needs of our community. We believe in the importance of working alongside our neighbors and within our greater community to support our mutual growth and prosperity.
A. Service Goals
The Library’s main objective is to supply its patrons, with a wide variety of materials for the education and enlightenment of the people, as well as to provide items for their leisure time. The Library will not deny library service to any patron because of religion, creed, sex, age, national origin, or physical handicap.
The needs of local citizens are taken into consideration when purchases are made. The Library strives to maintain a high quality collection insofar as the budget allows.
The First Amendment to the Constitution will be upheld. The Library subscribes to the American Library Associations’ Bills of Rights which reaffirm “libraries should provide books and other materials presenting all points of view concerning the problems and issues of our times.” The library also subscribes to the view that “no library materials should be excluded because of race or nationality or the social, political, or religious views of the authors.”
